Curated from Operations Research in Agriculture and Forest Management
As declared by the EURO Council, the main purpose of the EWG’s is to encourage communication and research between small groups of members specialising in particular topics. The WG is open to people with different backgrounds (like industry, university, etc) and who are interested on OR methods and its application in Agriculture and Forest Management ...
Interesting article on social group dynamics using a non-linear dynamics model. The interesting thing is can the para, meters be managed to prevent small groups fading away. Â Is there a critical mass?
Nonlinear dynamics is invoked to explain a wide range of physical phenomena in which a number of factors play a part.

Abstract
The paper shows that agriculture is one of the United Kingdom’s largest industries. It would therefore be expected that ...
I helped my boss Eric Audsley produce this paper (link) for the OR Society 50 conference in York 2008. Luis Pla and I also wrote a related paper on the future prospects that made it to press at the second attempt with help from Andrew Higgins.
This #seminal #review paper summed up much of the thinking and research that I had been involved with for around a decade as a research scientist at the former Silsoe Research Institute at #Wrest Park Bedfordshire. (Wrest Park is a fabulous Stately home and was a gorgeous setting for UKs public sector agricultural engineering institute)
In many ...
A comprehensive treatment of farm business and control, with many examples drawn from farming practice.
Although there are many motives for farming, the achievement of a worthwhile financial return, coupled with a good standard of living, ranks high among them. This implies the need for sound business organisation – the more so as holdings become larger, ...
Natural resources has been an application in numerous Operations Research papers; however, there have been few, if any, books that organizes and discusses the OR models in this area
Andrés Weintraub is the very top person in Natural Resource research. Moreover, he has an international reputation in OR and a former president of the International Federation ...

Methods applied to problems in agriculture and the agri-food industry include, but are not restricted to, the following themes:
Each chapter includes some standard and traditional methodology but ...

Operational Research Society – The Science of Better
Winner of ‘Best Corporate Film of 2009’ at the IOV awards. The brief for this recruitment film was literally ‘Make Maths look sexy’… so that’s exactly what we did!
“The fact that our video won the ‘Best Corporate Video 2009’ award says all you need to know about the creative expertise and technical capability of BMS. But what also needs to be said is that they are an enthusiastic team, fun to work with and keen to do all they can to make sure you are a satisfied client. Thoroughly recommended!” — Graham Sharp, Marketing Consultant, The OR Society.
This blog-site pulls together my professional interests in the application of Operational [Operations] Research to agriculture, forestry and related industries and extends to include their natural resources and chains or webs of secondary industries.
Operational Research is the scientific approach to better, specifically to better decision making. #ThisIsOR
If you favour UK English the discipline is known as Operational Research, but if you favour US English it is Operations Research. In any case it became recognised as its own discipline in the UK during WWII and does not specifically aim to help surgeons research their operations.
